Hi,

I have Kickstart 3.0 in my A1200. I bought on ebay the kickstart 3.1 for later install the os3.9 (need also a cdrom and 6mb ram....)

But, forget the os3.9,
if you have workbench 3.1 installed on the HD of a A1200, what is the difference from Kickstart 3.0 to 3.1 ? Any advantage ? Compatibility with older games is the same?

Thanks

Only difference is 3.1 contains new and updated device drivers etc etc.

Yep. You won't notice any actual differences in using 3.0 or 3.1, and pretty much all software is compatible with either version. The only exceptions are with specific workbench libraries, but with 3.0 you would just use a copy of the newer library to fix that.

The big difference with 3.1 is the kickstart for later versions of Workbench, because 3.5 and 3.9 won't work without it.

Yes OS3.9 need Kick 3.1, that's why i buy it. But i will need the put a cdrom and more memory.... next mounth... the IDE system to connect both HD and CDrom.
The memory i will get later.

And nowadays when accelerator boards are getting expensive, you might see some cards sold that actually doesn't work with kickstart 3.1 :thumbsdown2:

dce 1230 68030@28mzh (viper)
dkb 1240 68030@40 Mhz

Without re-epromming the bootrom, you need to remove the mem to get these work (not the best performance idea).
