Can you think of any memorable torture/killing/mutilation scene that made you feel thoroughly sick to the stomach?

Remember, this thread may contain spoilers, so read at your own risk!

The most recent one that comes to mind is the torture scene in CASINO ROYALE. Watching Bond getting whacked in the family jewels repeatedly like that made me want to throw up. Possibly the most brutal torture scene ever devised in a movie, even though no sharp things were used, at all.

Seriously, can a man survive that kind of punishment?

Although many have said they thought is wasn't that great a film, a few of the torture scenes in Hostel were quite realistic and made me feel a bit uncomfortable watching them. The storyline and plot were quite dire though.

I'm sure I saw one worse than that recently though. I will have to have a think and try to remember what it was.

Yes it was. It received better write ups than the first, but I've not seen it yet.

While Hostel wasn't a very good film, I think the premise behind it is a very, very unsettling one. The very idea that such a practise actually may or may have existed in some form or another is enough to make me sick. After watching the film, I sure have asked myself many times ... "What if it happened to me?"

A very scary thought.

Some of the scenes were very brutal, yes ... the most unsettling scene, in my opinion, was when the main character is dragged through the hallway to his cell, and while looking left and right - seeing people being mutilated and hearing their tortured screams - it dawns upon him what unimaginable horrors are going on around him, and what horrors are awaiting him in a few moments. A very well-shot scene, in my opinion - it captured the atmosphere perfectly.

You have to watch some Takashi Miike films, some very real and disgusting torture scenes.

Harrison

I've heard about those but not seen any. Will have to download some.

Get Ichi the Killer, a masterpiece ;)

In the Masters of Horor collection is also one by Miike called Imprint. There's a torture scene where a girl sticks needles under another ones finger nails, uncut.

I watched Pan's Labyrinth (great film, by the way!) the other day, and there was this one scene where the evil Spanish officer sews his own cheek back together after someone's opened it up with a knife. That was rather gross.

Watched Snakes on a Plane Sat!:sick: now that made me green! especially the toilet scene!

And all of the venom, snakes down throats etc! and then there's the SAW quadrigy

Harrison

I've not seen Snakes on a Plane yet. I set Sky+ to record it last weekend, and when I got home we had had a power cut.

We almost turned it off after about 30mins as it got so sick and screamish! I crossed my legs very tightly for ages too.

It doesn't help that I hate snakes!

Harrison

I can imagine. Although I'm sure I've seen much worse horror film.

I didn't think Snakes was that bad gore-wise, but I can imagine it'd be different if you don't like snakes in the first place. Fun film, by the way, worth a watch.

I did not like the movie at all, but there are some funny moments in it which are perhaps worth.

Wince factor: 0/10 (except you fear snakes)

I must admit that from the trailers I didn't think it looked very good. I have however now recorded it on sky+ so will attempt to watch it over Christmas.

granted the films laughable but the sickness of the snakes means you cant stop watching

I've seen SOOOOOOOOOOO many such scenes that I can't even remember many of them. A few highlights:

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST - The WHOLE movie makes me whince. This is not something I watch a lot, but it is a film I respect.

THE UNTOLD STORY - When the killer murders an entire family, including children as young as 2 or 3 and they show everything. Sickening.

MEN BEHIND THE SUN - Some VERY graphic and highly unsettling scenes in this one. In particular, the dissection of a young boy which is purportedly mixed in with real footage. The worst part is that it is all based on true accounts of the Japanese prison camps during WWII

I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE - The 20 or so minutes of repeated rapes on Camille Keaton's character is absolutely sickening and very hard to watch.

CHAOS - Pretty much a shot for shot remake of LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT. I generally don't care for remakes at all, but this one was brutal. The rape/murders of the 2 girls are extremely realistic and very, VERY ugly. I saw this in a theatre and I have never been more uncomfortable in my life. The movie itself if pretty useless, but those 2 scenes will stick in my head for a LONG time (unfortunately).

THE DESCENT - When the one chick breaks her leg after falling down a cavern and they have to push the bone back in to try to help her. UGH!!!!

FLOWER OF FLESH AND BLOOD - The entire thing is disturbing. Better watched on a 3rd or 4th generation VHS copy than on DVD to get the full effect.

AFTERMATH - Nacho Cerda's short film is one of the most bizare and unsettling things I've ever seen. The look in the main characters eyes is enough to send chills up your spine.

PSYCHO: THE SNUFF REELS - Another Japanese psuedo-snuff flick that mixes in hardcore porn with dismemberment (and not necessarily in that order). Some of the fx are pretty obviously fake, but it's still very hard to watch. I don't understand how people can even film stuff like this?

HOUSE AT THE EDGE OF THE PARK - When David Hess's character is carving up that naked girl on the couch with a straight razor, very painful.

BEYOND THE DARKNESS - When they eat the "soup" and the housekeeper lady is sloppily just slurping it down. While there are plenty of other sick scenes in this film, that one nearly made me barf.

MY SWEET SATAN - The killing of the kid at the fire pit is extremely violent and hard to watch. The anger of the actors seems VERY real.

I could go on and on....

Yeah, it's the second one if I remember correctly. It and THE DEVIL'S EXPERIMENT are the 2 "worst" of the series. The one called MERMAID IN A MANHOLE is gross but actually pretty interesting, for what it is. These aren't films that I've seen more than once or twice at most, more that I was just curious to see if I could stomach them.

The torture scene in Shoot Em Up made me feel a bit uneasy. It's not gross at all, but I just don't like the idea of broken fingers.

Anyone else don't like on-screen depictions of neck/finger/leg/knee/arm breakings?

My bird doesn't like Hostel because she was disappointed by the torture scenes.

She was hoping to see a lot more on the torture side of things.
Bit too tame for her tastes.:anvil:

 Bet you have to watch your step then! ;)

For me it was good until the girl had her eye dangling out of the socket. That just looked unrealistic.

I guess when the news reports that an insane homicidal maniac has escaped a mental institute and that everyone should keep their doors and windows shut that most of you respond with "Oh I so hope he visits us."
Then put cookies and milk outside with a mat reading 'welcome' while you wait for his arrival.

V85 said break OUT. I think he was implying that he is the insane homicidal maniac (although i don't think there are many homicidal maniacs that aren't insane) from Ghosts post. Unfortunatly he forgot that he loves Moty Python and that makes him quite sane, just a little strange.

So he did! Does this mean that she currently has him locked in a basement prison? Using him to continue her bloodline? With only his Amiga to keep him sane!

...and in 24 years time authorities will discover him locked in the basement, surrounded by loads of little v85's who all think the Amiga is the window to the universe!

Might it not be better to cement over the building then?
Not that anyone would ever want to live there again.

@v85rawdeal

Well if you decide to break into my house to butcher me, you will be in for a surprise as I will not be following the traditional rules.
My house has only three doors for external access, all kept locked.
Windows are two small to climb through.
House is made of brick not wood so no bursting in.
I live in a city with loads of neighbours, not in a house in the middle of nowhere.
I'm male not female.
I'm 6 foot tall not 5 foot 2.
Weigh about sixteen stone not six.
Will not be wondering around the house half naked (Well depends on the time of day)
I think you find my snooker cue has a longer reach than any knife you've bought from the local fish bait shop.
I certainly won't be running away and falling over in my bare feet.
I'll be standing my ground in my size eleven boots.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing you.;)

BTW, can I have your stuff should you 'accidentally' pass away because of a 'snooker-cue-through-the-head' attack?

If I die, everything goes to my daughter...

And you don't want to mess with her, she's like both Doug AND Dinsdale Piranha all rolled into one 2yr old package!!!

That shouldn't be to hard to take care off.

Now what was the address?

(and no, I wouldn't do something nasty to the little girl you sickos, I would bribe her with candy. Kids love candy and at that age are more than willing to trade icky computers and games for loads of it)
